We've used PDQ Electric a number of times, and we have always been happy with their work. Chad is able to figure out what's going on very quickly, and is great at explaining what happened and what is needed to get it fixed. They are our go to electrical repair company.

Had PDQ out to my house to resolve three switches that were no longer working, and trouble shoot a 4-way switch that was not operating correctly. Steven was on time, polite and professional. Had all three switches replaced and working in under two hours and figured out the 4-way switch issue and fixed it. All of this for around $350! We're very happy with PDQ Electric!

Jesse did a great job installing my Tesla wall connector. He arrived on time and did the job the way that I requested. Everyone I dealt with at pdq was great, from Amanda in the front office to Chad who bid the job for me. Would definitely use their services again.

I had a great experience with PDQ Electric and highly recommend them! Chad and Jeremy were absolute pros from start to finish. They tackled a couple of jobs around my home with fantastic results. First, they installed a brand-new ceiling fan in a room where there was no existing fixture or power source, seamlessly running a cable from a nearby light fixture. Second, they safely fixed and replaced a burnt light switch that had been giving me trouble. Beyond their technical skill, their team was top-notch to work with: - Great Communication: They kept me informed every step of the way, so there were no surprises. - Clean & Professional: They left the work areas spotless when they finished. - Friendly Service: Everyone I interacted with was kind, polite, and truly professional. If you need fast, reliable, and high-quality electrical work, PDQ Electric is the way to go. I will definitely be calling them again for future projects!

A Systematic Diagnosis

How PDQ Narrows Down the Problem

Troubleshooting starts with the pattern and history of the failure, then follows the electrical path until the cause is isolated.

Smoke, arcing, burning odor, severe heat or visible damage should not be treated as an ordinary reset problem. Stop using the affected equipment and do not remove the panel cover.

What may need to be checked

Utility power versus property wiring
Whether the problem begins before or after the service equipment.

Panel and circuit breakers
Breaker position, voltage, connections and signs of equipment damage.

GFCIs, switches and receptacles
Devices that may interrupt or pass power to downstream locations.

Fixtures, appliances and equipment
Connected loads that may be defective or causing a circuit to trip.

Connections and conductors
Loose, overheated, damaged or improperly modified wiring.

Intermittent conditions
Operating patterns, temperature, vibration and loads present when the problem occurs.

Troubleshooting process

From Symptom to Repair Options

1

Describe the Pattern

Identify what lost power, when it happens and what equipment was operating.

2

Test and Isolate

PDQ follows the circuit and tests the components needed to narrow down the cause.

3

Explain the Repair

Once the cause is identified, PDQ explains the reasonable correction and any additional options.

Questions

Electrical Troubleshooting FAQ

Several outlets and lights may share one circuit. The cause can include a breaker, GFCI, failed device, loose connection or damaged conductor. The circuit layout must be traced when the cause is not obvious.

A partial service-power problem can affect many circuits at once. The issue may involve utility power, the meter, service conductors, main equipment or a connection. PDQ must determine where the loss begins.

A tripped GFCI, failed upstream receptacle, loose connection, switch-controlled outlet or damaged conductor may interrupt power without an obviously tripped breaker.

Photos help identify equipment and visible damage, but they generally cannot show voltage, continuity, load behavior or a hidden loose connection. Most unexplained electrical failures require on-site testing.

Cost depends on the time required to isolate the fault, access, whether the condition is intermittent and what repair is needed afterward. The repair scope may not be known until testing identifies the cause.

No. An estimate prices a defined project. Troubleshooting is diagnostic work performed to determine why an electrical system or circuit is not operating correctly.
